30 000 $ WORTH OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS DONATED BY THE EVENKO FOUNDATION !

L'École Primaire L'Apprenti-Sage, located in Québec City, is enhancing its music program thanks to a major $30,000 donation in musical instruments. This generous gesture will allow students to learn and grow in optimal conditions, nurturing their passion and developing their musical talent.

The school includes special education classes, a reception class for newcomers, as well as regular classes from preschool to grade 6. Over time, the school has evolved, and educational needs have grown and become more diverse. However, the condition of the school's musical instruments, including percussion and piano, had significantly deteriorated. This situation was affecting the quality of music instruction and hindering students' full artistic development.

To address this situation, the evenko foundation provided the school with a brand-new collection of xylophones and various percussion instruments, for a total value of $30,000, including:

  • 2 bass xylophones

  • 2 CB glockenspiels

  • 1 bass bar

  • 2 drums

  • 1 bongo

  • 1 electronic multi-pad

  • 1 electro-acoustic guitar

  • 3 chromatic add-ons for xylophones

  • 3 metallophones

  • 1 set of handbells

  • 8 alto xylophones

  • 10 soprano xylophones

  • 3 alto glockenspiels

  • 3 soprano glockenspiels

  • various other accessories

Thanks to this new equipment, the school will now be able to offer a more stimulating and equitable environment for all young musicians. Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of instruments, providing them with a rich, inclusive, and accessible musical experience. This gesture reflects the evenko foundation’s commitment to student success and the long-term sustainability of music education at l'École Primaire L’Apprenti-Sage.

The evenko foundation would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Ford Canada for its essential contribution to this final donation of La Tournée 2024–2025. Their support made this generous gesture possible and actively contributes to the promotion of music education.

The unveiling of this generous donation, co-hosted by Alexandre Perron-Roussin, coordinator of the evenko foundation, and guest artist Pierre-Yves Lord, took place in the school gym of l'école primaire L’Apprenti-Sage, in the presence of all 305 students from grades 3 to 6. The event began with a presentation about the evenko foundation, followed by an introduction of the guest artist.

Pierre-Yves Lord was warmly welcomed and thanked by the students. His energy and generosity quickly captivated the audience. He delivered an inspiring message on the importance of creativity in both academic and personal development. He then led an interactive workshop using an Omnichord (a simple and accessible musical instrument). His goal was to show that creativity does not require advanced technical skills, and that simplicity can be a powerful gateway to musical expression. Many students had the opportunity to try the instrument alongside him.

A delightful surprise followed: the grade 3 students performed a fun song they had prepared especially for the occasion.

To conclude the event, Pierre-Yves Lord had the honor of unveiling the big surprise of the day : a brand-new collection of musical instruments donated to the school.

“The evenko foundation has given our students an incredible opportunity. Thanks to this generous donation, all of our students will now have access to instruments that make it even more enjoyable to explore their creativity. Thank you to Pierre-Yves Lord for his dynamic involvement, and also to Ms. Julie, our music teacher, without whom none of this would have been possible”

-Joanie Morin-Labrecque, Vice-Principal, École Primaire L’Apprenti-Sage

"The evenko foundation will allow students at L’Apprenti-Sage to create beautiful music for years to come, thanks to brand new instruments! It’s a deeply meaningful experience for everyone involved. A big THANK YOU for this tremendous gift that truly makes a difference in our school."
